'Stocking Strangler' declines last meal request

FORSYTH, Ga. - Condemned murderer Carlton Gray, also known as the "Stocking Strangler" is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection Thursday, March at 7 p.m. Gary was sentenced to death in 1977 for the murder of Florence Scheible, Martha Thurmond and Kathleen Woodruff.

Gary declined to request a last meal, but he will be receiving the institutional tray consisting of grilled hamburger, hot dog, white beans, coleslaw and a grape beverage.

There have been 69 men and one woman executed in Georgia since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976. There are presently 54 men under death sentence in Georgia.
