West Point woman faces attempted murder, sexual assault, and arson

WEST POINT, Ga - One West Point woman faces charges of attempted murder, sexual assault, and arson.

West Point police say 44-year-old Wanda Buckner is charged with aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, and aggravated assault stemming from an alleged incident last summer.

West Point police say say the alleged sexual assault occurred back on August 25. The victim came forward saying that they were the victim of a sexual assault at the hands of Buckner. Officers were not able to locate Buckner.

The arson charges stem from a fire earlier this week on Avenue K.

Police say people were inside the apartment duplex when it was set on fire. The victims of the duplex allege that Buckner started the fire and she knew the persons who lived there.

They've charged Buckner with five counts of criminal attempt murder and two counts of arson in the first degree. West Point Police want to hear from anyone with information on Buckner.
