Sarah Riggs Amico officially files for Georgia's Lt. Gov. race

ATLANTA - Sarah Riggs Amico filed to be Georgia's first female Lieutenant Governor Tuesday March 6 as her two daughters were by her side.

"Standing on the steps of the statehouse was a surreal moment for me, because I’m not a career politician – I’m a mother, I’m the proud wife of an immigrant and I'm a business owner who employs thousands of union truckers and mechanics. Most of all, I’m someone who knows we can do better for Georgia," says Amico.

Amico comes from the business and transportation sector, and enters this race a political outsider focused on getting the job done.

Amico continued, "In my business, I’ve worked to put people first -- securing paid parental leave for our workers and fully funding healthcare for all of our employees. And we’ve grown from 120 employees in 2008 to over 3,400 today, not despite these decisions, but because of them. And now I want to get off the sidelines and do the same thing for the people of Georgia."
