Auburn beats Smiths Station in semi-finals to advance to 3rd straight state championship

Auburn -- A trip to the 7A state championship was on the line Friday between Smiths Station and Auburn.

The Tigers lost in the state title in 2016 and 2017 while the Panthers won it all back in 2015.

In game one, Auburn's Drew Jennings pitched a complete game leading the Tigers to a 2-1 win. Pitching remained strong for the Tigers in game two as Brooks Fuller struck out a career-high nine batters over six innings of work.

Auburn's offense provided seven runs for Fuller as the Tigers beat Smiths Station 7-1. Auburn is heading to its third straight state championship where the Tigers will play Hewitt-Trussville in Montgomery on May 18 at 6:00 CT.
