Elite Eight matchups set for Georgia hoops tourney

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

It was quite an eventfulweekend for high school teams in the area as they continued their pursuit ofwinning a state title.

There are two girls' teamsand three boys teams in the Columbus area who still have a shot to go to Macon.

The undefeated Kendrick girlsare coming off their toughest game of the year against GAC. The Cherokees hadto work for their 29th victory. Their reward is a date against Lovett at homethis week.

Hardaway also gets to playa home game against another one seed in Forest Park. The Hawks are coming offof a nine point win against Evans.

Over on the boys' side, twoColumbus teams are in the Elite Eight in AA.

Jordan is at home against Model.The Red Jackets almost put a hundred on Dade County in a blowout win.

On the other side of thebracket, it's the surprise of the tourney. Manchester just beat Calhoun and nowthey get to go to Atlanta this week to play GAC.

In 5-A, Northside is at home for the EliteEight against Jenkins High School from Savannah. They beat another Savannahteam in Richmond Hill on Saturday.
