Ms. Valerie Melton of West Smith Station Elementary School wins MEA Golden Apple Award

Posted:

MEA Golden Apple Award winners always tell us that it is an honor to be nominated by a student, but equally as flattering to be nominated by a peer.

Such was the case for West Smith Station Elementary kindergarten teacher Valerie Melton who received the Golden Apple Award this week.

Melton's co-worker, Donna Zeigler, wrote to tell us that she has never met a more dedicated teacher.

Zeigler says Ms. Melton serves with a heart of gold and views her teaching career as an opportunity to shape young minds to believe they can achieve.

Melton, a 16-year teaching veteran, says she thoroughly enjoys the challenge of working with her young students.

Congratulations again to teacher Valerie Melton this week's MEA Federal Credit Union Golden Apple Award winner.

Anyone can nominate their teacher for a Golden Apple by filling out a nominating form on our website.
