Loachapoka girls win, advance to Elite Eight

The Loachapoka Lady Indians beat the Holy Spirit Lady Titans, 52-44, Monday night in Montgomery in the first round of the Alabama 1A Central Regional.

They will face either Keith or Winterboro Thursday in the Elite 8.

On the boys side, the Indians fell to Keith, 71-37.

In the 2A Northeast Regional, the Lanett Panthers swept their opening regional games.

The girls game from behind to beat Sand Rock, 45-39. Eighth grader Ataiya Bridges led the Lady Panthers with 14 points. They'll face top-seed Woodland on Thursday.

On the boys' side, the Panthers knocked off Westbrook Christian, 55-41, to advance.

They will square off with rival Lafayette Thursday afternoon.
