Brush fire spreads over two acres of Phenix City

Posted: Updated:

Fire crews have been working throughout the evening to put out a brush fire in Phenix City.

The Ladonia and Crawford fire departments responded to the call on Wommack Road around 3:45 Sunday afternoon.

Official say the fire burned about two acres. Most of the fire has been contained but Cpl. Jay Wortley of Ladonia says some embers will be left to burn out on their own.

He says, "The wind keeps changing on us, which is common for any fire, so you have to play multiple changes in the way you put out the fire."

No one was injured in the fire.
