It won't feel like spring - WRBL

It won't feel like spring

Posted: Updated:

Happy first day of spring! It arrived at 7:02 AM EDT, but it sure won't feel like it any time soon.

Clouds will increase throughout the day and lead to a stray shower or two around lunchtime. Highs highly depend on how long the clouds stick around this afternoon. Overall, many will see the low to mid 60s, but if the clouds linger then some may not see 60°.

A clear and cold night is on the way tonight. It's going to be cold enough that a Freeze WARNING has been issued for some of our Georgia Counties. Tomorrow will be cooler than average by about 10-15 degrees.

The weekend's forecast is quite challenging and depends on two things. Clouds and the track of the low pressure bringing us rain. If we see more clouds than sun Friday/Saturday/Sunday then we'll be cooler than forecast. The other part of the potential "bust" of our weekend forecast is the track of the low. As of now, we're forecasting it to stay just north of the area which leads to highs in the upper 50s to low 60s Friday/Saturday and push the mid to upper 60s Sunday.

For those reading this… Here's a bit of "fun" information for you. Want to know what I mean by the "uncertainty" of this weekend's forecast? Take Friday for example... Computer models spit out numbers for us to use as guidance. They're typically within a few degrees of each other. That is most definitely NOT the case Friday. The NAM has us at 50° Friday afternoon, while the GFS has us at 63° and our RPM has 68°. Yeah, this is going to be a fun forecast! A few guidance models are pushing us into the upper 70s Sunday afternoon, while a few others keep us in the upper 60s. Oh, the joys of forecasting spring weather!
