Tanner's career night leads Auburn past UAB

AUBURN, Ala. -

The Auburn Tigers rode a career night from Tyrese Tanner to blow out Alabama-Birmingham in the opening round of the WNIT, 80-57.

Auburn will now play the winner of East Carolina and Western Kentucky, which will be played on Thursday. Game times for the second round will be announced Thursday night.

The game was close at halftime, with Auburn holding a slim 27-22 lead, but the Tigers outscored the Blazers 53-25 in the second 20 minutes to pull away.

Tanner finished with a career-high 29 points, along with three rebounds, four steals and two blocks.

Blanche Alverson and Peyton Davis each added 11.
