Rain, Strong Storms Possible Tonight - WRBL

Rain, Strong Storms Possible Tonight

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Part of the News3 viewing area is under a risk for severe storms this evening and overnight.  A complex system featuring two surface lows will develop and deepen, and move in our direction, triggering numerous showers and thunderstorms.

Some of the storms may produce strong winds and the potential is there for hail as well.  A Severe Thunderstorm Watch will be in effect until 2 AM Central Time for our Alabama counties.  Tornado threat should generally remain well to our south.

The rain will clear the area fairly early on Sunday and the clouds will break, allowing temperatures to warm up nicely.  The warm air may help trigger at least some isolated thundershowers Sunday afternoon before a front finally ushers in drier and much cooler air starting Sunday night.

The upcoming week looks to be unseasonably cool, with Canadian air masses providing much below normal highs and lows.
