Lady Bulldogs survive, advance to Sweet 16

SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Georgia Lady Bulldogs advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament with a 65-60 win over Iowa State on Monday.

Georgia set a season-high with 12 three-pointers on a 37 percent shooting night.

Shacobia Barbee led all scorers with 20 points to go with five rebounds, and Anne Marie Armstrong added 13 points and five boards.

After going into halftime tied at 32, Georgia started the second half on a 19-7 run, leading by as much as 14 at one point. But Iowa State used an 18-1 run to lead 56-52 with 2:32 to play.

The Lady Bulldogs answered and regained the lead for good on an Armstrong layup with 58 seconds to go to make it 60-59.

Georgia advances to play the winner of no. 1 Stanford and no. 8 Michigan in the next round.
