Community activists protest at the Foxy Lady lounge

Posted: Updated:

Community activists are calling for the city to investigate nightclubs in south Columbus.

A group of protesters gathered outside the Foxy Lady lounge Saturday where a murder took place last week.

They say a number of clubs in the area host criminal activity and need to be shut down.

Mayor Teresa Tomlinson promised Rev. Willie Phillips that she would investigate to see if any of the clubs are, in fact, crime havens.

At the protest, Phillips said, "We're tired of our young people being gunned down in these nightclubs, and plus, you've got criminals running most of these clubs and they need to be shut down."

20-year-old Shannon Fields, Jr. was gunned down at the Foxy Lady last Wednesday.
