Tanning under 17 banned in New Jersey

U.S. -

Remember the so-called New Jersey "Tan Mom" accused of child endangerment after allegedly letting her 5-year-old daughter use a tanning bed?  Well, her case has inspired a new tanning law signed by Governor Chris Christie on Monday.  It prohibits minors under the age of 17 from using commercial tanning beds in the state.

It also bans those under 14 from using any spray-tanning procedures in tanning facilities.  New Jersey joins California and Vermont in banning indoor tanning by minors.  As for Tan Mom, a New Jersey grand jury declined to indict her back in February.

Governor Christie said Monday the child was not permanently injured and the salon was fined by the state Department of Health.
