LIVE BLOG: Final Four in Atlanta

Posted: Updated:

11:37 p.m. - And that'll do it. Michigan hangs on, 61-56. Poorly executed last play for Syracuse. Down three, drove to the basket early and threw up a wild, contested shot. That means it's Louisville and Michigan Monday night for the national championship. Thanks for following along, it's been fun.

11:10 p.m. - 3:46 to play, it's 53-45 Michigan. Syracuse had a good look to tie it on a three in the corner from Fair, but it wouldn't drop. Wolverines have gone on a 7-0 run since. It's getting late early for the Orange.

10:13 p.m. - Halftime here at the Dome. Michigan in total control here, up 36-25. For all the publicity Syracuse's vaunted zone got, it's fairly useless when the other team makes shots, which is exactly what the Wolverines have done. Syracuse needs to make an adjustment defensively and hope Michigan cools off after the break.

9:49 p.m. - Second media timeout, Michigan up 20-17. Trey Burke not even in the scorebook yet. Wolverines are obviously trying to play this game in transition, get up and down the floor, so Syracuse doesn't have time to set up their vaunted zone.

9:27 p.m. - Underway in game two. Tim Hardaway, Jr. breaks the seal with a long three, then C.J. Fair answers for Syracuse.

8:52 p.m. - Louisville punches a ticket to the national championship on Monday. Questionable jump ball call at the end, but Wichita State couldn't hold a 12-point lead in the second half. Shockers proved they belonged. Question is, had they won, would anyone have really felt like they were--at worst--the second best team in the country? Call it "Butler in 2010" syndrome. In any event... Syracuse/Michigan in 23 minutes.

8:19 p.m. - Final media timeout, 3:50 to play, Louisville up 60-58. Largest lead of the second half. Wichita State has had a counterpunch all game long, but will they have one now? Feels like another bucket for Louisville could end it. Don't know if WSU has the horses to come back from a multiple-possession deficit.

7:52 p.m. - Timeout on the floor. Wichita State got up 12 at 47-35, but Louisville has cut it back to six with a 6-0 run. Feels like the game will be decided in these next few minutes. 11:56 to play.

7:44 p.m. - 14:16 to play, Wichita State with its largest lead of the game, up 43-32 over Louisville. That's really all I got. I'm as speechless as you are.

7:34 p.m. - Second half underway, Shockers came out firing. Up 36-30, largest lead of the game since it was 8-0. Crowd is into it, you can tell they're starting to believe.

7:06 p.m. - Halftime. Wichita State on top, 26-25 after Peyton Siva missed a three at the buzzer. Shockers have to feel good about the lead at the break, but have absolutely no momentum. Louisville is playing by far its worst game of the tournament, against a hostile crowd, and still is down just one at the half. Expect Pitino and the Cardinals to come out firing in the second half.

6:54 p.m. - At the under-four media timeout, it's 20-19 Wichita State. Shockers have been able to take the Cardinals' best punches so far, and respond. This last 3:05 more important for Wichita State than Louisville. If Shockers go into the break with a lead, huge confidence boost. Also, they're obviously feeding off their crowd here at the Dome.

6:47 p.m. - Shockers in a little spurt here. A steal and a fastbreak jam from Cleanthony Early gives them a four point lead forces Pitino to call a timeout. Wichita State could have shrunk when Louisville came back with that 9-0 run, but to their credit, they've hung tough, took a punch, and are back in control.

6:42 p.m. - At the under-eight media timeout, Louisville and Wichita State tied at 13. Shooting percentages are...not good. Game hanging in the balance right now, this last 7:09 in the half is huge.

6:34 p.m. - 11-10 Louisville. How will Wichita State respond? Everything came so easy in the first four minutes. Now the Cardinals have woken up. Can the Shockers take a punch?

6:25 p.m. - After an 8-0 run to start the game, Wichita State has seen Louisville climb back in it. 8-5 now, 13:53 remaining.

6:14 p.m. - And we're off. Wichita State wins the tip.

5:59 p.m. - Louisville starters: Wayne Blackshear, Chane Behanan, Gorgui Dieng, Peyton Siva, Russ Smith. Wichita State: Carl Hall (from Cochran, Ga.), Cleanthony Early, Malcolm Armstead, Ron Baker, Tekele Cotton (from Marietta, Ga.)

5:55 p.m. - Under seven minutes now to go. Dome is probably half full. Louisville taking the court now.

5:50 p.m. - Just under 13 minutes until tip-off here in Atlanta. Wichita State and Louisville the first game of the day. The Shockers with a surprisingly strong contingent of fans.
