Judge: No hearing on bomber's bid for book money

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -

A judge in Alabama is refusing to hold a hearing on whether Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph gets to keep money from sales of the autobiography he wrote in prison.

U.S. District Judge Lynwood Smith issued a brief order Tuesday denying a request by the 46-year-old Rudolph.

Rudolph pleaded guilty in the 1996 Olympic bombing in Atlanta and an abortion clinic bombing in Birmingham, Ala. Two people died in those blasts.

Rudolph recently filed a request seeking about $200 the government seized from sales of the book, which he wrote behind bars and published with the help of his brother.

The judge says Rudolph gave up any money from publications in his plea agreement, so no hearing is needed.

The government says Rudolph owes about $1 million in restitution.
