There are a lot of very good teachers at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School in Columbus.
However, one in particular stood out to us.
She is 4th grade teacher Debra Seymore who was surprised with the MEA Golden Apple Award this week by our very own Carlos Williams.
Seymore was also greeted by friends and well wishers including her pastor Rev. J.H. Flakes III.
Seymore , who was once an administrative assistant, has been working at the 30th Avenue school for 14 years and she says she thoroughly enjoys it.
Principal Michael Davis made it official by placing this sign on the school's lawn for all to see.
Anyone can nominate their teacher for a Golden Apple by filling out a nominating form on our website.
You can tune in to see if your favorite teacher has been selected every Wednesday on Evening Edition and Nightwatch during the school year.
