Wet Finish to Weekend - WRBL

Wet Finish to Weekend

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

After kicking off the weekend with warm, dry weather, we're likely to close it out with rain for much of the area.

An upper level disturbance moving along the southern branch of the jet stream will be responsible for kicking off numerous showers and thunderstorms Sunday and Monday, as it interacts with a good supply of moisture from the Gulf.  For our area, showers may arrive in the morning but will pick up later in the day and become more widespread, along with the possibility of thunderstorms.

These will linger into Sunday night and at least the early part of Monday, though there are indications of some drier air making a push into the area later on Monday.

Another system may give us another chance of rain around the middle of next week.

We've gone more than a week since our last measurable rain and Columbus has fallen behind normal for April with only a few more days remaining to make up some ground.  We remain ahead of normal for the year to date.
