CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

A Carter County woman is dead tonight, after an early morning fire spread from her back porch to the home.

West Carter County Fire Department tells News Channel 11 they got a call around 2:15 this morning, to 108 Joshua Lane, just off Howard Hyder Road. They say the trailer was packed full of clothes, odds and ends - appearing to be a hoarding situation. The department said,  "That type of thing leads to disaster."

The main part of the home is still standing, but responders had to cut two outside walls off the trailer before they could get inside to look for the woman living there. There was no walking space inside, because there was so much "stuff" packed in.

Judy Davis was in her early 60s. She died of smoke inhalation.

Around 17 firemen responded to the scene, from West Carter, Central, and Watauga Fire Departments.

An investigation is underway.
