Motorcycle vs. scooter on Causeway Bridge

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

A motorcyclist hit a scooter on the Causeway Boulevard bridge Sunday evening, leaving both drivers dead.

Tampa Police investigated the accident. They told us, David Troy Hood, 41, of Tampa, driving the 1986 Kawasaki motorcycle was speeding across the bridge and couldn't stop on time to avoid the 2012 VIP scooter in front of him.

The Kawasaki hit the scooter, the motorcyclist and his passenger were ejected on impact, according to the police report.

The scooter driver Angel Felipe, 54, of Tampa, died at the scene, police told us. Paramedics airlifted thHood and his passenger, Amanda Rae Sarmiento, 31, to Tampa General Hospital. Hood died there soon after. Doctors listed Sarmiento's condition as critical.
