BP to pay $340M restoration projects

Posted: Updated:

BP has agreed to give approximately 340-million dollars to Louisiana's restoration projects.

bBPs agreement is part of the one-billion dollar investment they agreed to give for the early repair of damaged natural resources caused by Deepwater Horizon's oil spill.

The projects are expected to create thousands of acres of restored dunes and marshes along the Louisiana coast.

The projects also include the rebuilding of four Barrier Islands from Plaquemines to Terrebonne Parishes.

BP will also pay for two research centers to restore and restock damaged fisheries - one on Lake Charles and the other in Plaquemines.

BP's 340-million dollar agreement will add to the 370-million dollars of funds that have already been approved for early restoration projects.
