Columbus cruises to soccer second round

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Columbus High Lady Blue Devil soccer team advanced to the second round of the state tournament with a dominating, 5-0, win over Stephens County Tuesday night.

Columbus got the scoring started in the tenth minute with a 20-yarder from Lane Burbrink. In the 38th minute, Kyla Wright took a feed from Taylor Schuler and beat the keeper to give Columbus a 2-0 advantage.

At that point, the Blue Devils held a 21-2 advantage in shots on goal.

With less than 10 second before the half, Abby Roth headed in a Ivey Burbrink cross to make it 3-0 at halftime.

Nada Elrhalami and Nikiay Comer both added goals to send the game to its final score.

Columbus will face Grady, which beat NW Whitfield 4-0, in the second round on May 7.
