Rainy and cool - WRBL

Rainy and cool

Posted: Updated:

The forecast is complicated. A closed upper-level low will meander across the Midwest and Southeast before heading either out to sea or up to Canada. That whole process will take days and is complicated enough as it is to forecast. You add in another area of low pressure in the northern Gulf of Mexico and you get even more uncertainty than usual.

Let's start off with what we do know: It's going to rain. A few showers are possible today and tomorrow before the main batch arrives Saturday. The uncertain part about the next few days is temperatures. If clouds hang tough, like they did yesterday, we'll see temperatures today and tomorrow in the upper 60s to low 70s. A few peeks of sunshine will cause temperatures to shoot into the mid to upper 70s. Things then get really interesting Saturday. Saturday's batch of rain is associated with a cold front. That cold front will cause temperatures to plummet immediately behind it, causing us to fall from the mid-upper 60s Saturday morning into the low-mid 50s by afternoon. Like I said, complicated.

Sunday and Monday will see the upper-level low move over us, which is enough to spark off a stray shower or two. With the low overhead Monday, temperatures will struggle to see the 70° mark. But that's IF it's overhead. If it's not, then we'll be warmer.

All of this mess eventually moves on next week and will allow us to see sunshine and 80s. That doesn't happen until Tuesday/Wednesday though.
