PHENIX CITY, Ala. -

The 6A-Area 5 softball tournament started off with an upset, as Smiths Station knocked off top seed Central, 5-3.

The Panthers jumped on Red Devil ace Allie Kelley for five runs in the fifth and led 5-0 until Central added three in the seventh to make things interesting.

Smiths Station advanced to face Auburn, 10-0 winners over Opelika in the opening round. Auburn made it two wins in a row with an 11-8 victory in the nightcap.

The Tigers move on to face either Central or Opelika, who will face off in a loser's bracket game at 1:00 p.m. ET.
