COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Chattahoochee Valley Library system is $2,500 richer.

Members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and its charitable arm, the Delta Life Development Foundation, presented a check today at the Mildred Terry Library in that amount.

Columbus GA. Alumnae Chapter President LaRae Moore presented the check on the groups' behalf.

The money is part of a $20,000 commitment to the library.

The sorority is very close to meeting its goal.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was founded on January 13, 1913 at Howard University and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The Columbus Georgia Alumnae chapter was chartered in 1948.

Delta Sigma Theta is a sisterhood of more than 300,000 college-educated women with over 1,000 chapters in the United States and around the world.
