Memorial Day events at National Infantry Museum

FORT BENNING, Ga. -

The National Infantry Museum will be open from 9-5 PM on Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day.

There will be a host of events, starting with a paver dedication ceremony at 10 AM on Heritage Walk. The guest speaker will be LTG (Ret) Tom Metz, a combat commander who led more than 120,000 coalition troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

There will also be a Memorial Day Mini-Camp for children from 9-1 PM. The cost is $10 per camper. The day will include making crafts, activities and history lessons. To sign-up call the Education Department at 706-685-5814 or email education@nationalinfantryfoundation.org.

There will also be a Memorial Day Concert at 2 PM in the chapel featuring singer/songwriter Tim Maggart and Justin Belew.

    An Amber Alert has been canceled after 2-year old Maliah Harris was found safe in Georgia. Her 7-month-old sibling, Alyssa, was found dead and Maliah disappeared from a Mississippi home which prompted authorities to issue the alert. The girls parents, Donald Boyd Harris,34, and Allison Studdard, 31, are now in custody.
