House fire leaves Burke County couple dead

ATLANTA, Ga. -

Investigators with the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner are looking into a Sunday evening house fire that left a Burke County couple dead.

It happened around 8:30 on Phillips Street in Keysville, Georgia. Sixty-two-year-old Eddie James Waltower and his wife, 60-year-old Sarah Waltower died.

The blaze started on the rear porch of the house near a freezer and officials have not found anything suspicious.

Burke County Emergency Management and the Burke County Sheriff's office are also investigating.

So far in 2013, there have been 56 fire fatalities reported in Georgia.
