Brookstone's Fletcher signs with Furman

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Brookstone senior quarterback Duncan Fletcher signed a national letter of intent to play college football at Furman University Tuesday morning.

In his senior season under center, Fletcher helped lead the Cougars to the GHSA A playoffs. He said he was considering both Georgia and Wake Forest, but a guaranteed spot on the team at Furman ultimately swayed him.

"I'm going to try to make the best impact I can," he said. "Whatever the team needs is what I'm going to try to do, just be the best player I can for the team to make sure they didn't waste a player."

A comfort with the coaches and the campus also helped Fletcher make his decision.

"I felt like Furman was the best fit for me, and I had a great relationship with some of the coaches," he said. "I love the campus, and I just feel like it's going to be a lot of fun."

Fletcher said he does not know what he will study, but he will take classes this summer.
