POLK COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill announced Tuesday that an indictment has been issued charging Scott Eargood, 21 and Santos Zamora-Escobar, 27, both of Poinciana, with the possession and intent to sell more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

According to officials, on Thursday, May 2, Polk County deputies made a traffic stop on a Jeep Cherokee driven by Eargood, with Zamora-Escobar as a passenger, on Highway 98 west in Polk County.  Deputies searched the vehicle and found methamphetamine.

The traffic stop led deputies to a search a home rented by Eargood, located on Platte Lane in Poinciana.  Inside the home, law enforcement found more than 110 pounds of methamphetamine. Officials said the house was rented for the purpose of making methamphetamine with the intent to distribute in Polk County.

The penalty for each count is a mandatory minimum of 10 years to life in federal prison. This case is being investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations and the Polk County Sheriff's Office as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation.
