Georgia's revenue collections up in April

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia's state revenues increased 13 percent in April, compared with the same month a year ago. That makes for an overall 6 percent increase for fiscal year 2013.

Gov. Nathan Deal said Wednesday that net revenue collections have so far totaled $14.1 billion for an increase of $808 million compared to the same point last year.

Individual income tax collections for April totaled $1 billion, which is up $805 million from April 2012. Payments on individual tax returns were up $282 million or 88 percent over the year before. The governor's office says a reporting change with respect to extension payments was the main reason behind the increase.

Meanwhile, sales and use tax collections for April were nearly $417 million, down about $65.5 million from April 2012.
