The city of Columbus is almost ready for the grand opening of the whitewater project. but just 17 days before it's set to open one of the outfitters pulls out.
The nantahala outdoor center, one of the premier outfitters in the southeast has decided to bow out as the outfitter for folks on the Columbus side of the river.
In a news release a spokesman for the outfitter says, "we have determined that river running operations in Columbus was not something we could fully commit to as a company."
as a result, whitewater express, the outfitter committed to the Phenix city side of the river, will now also handle the Columbus side. They will partner with the outside world on Broadway to offer rafting trips. The whitewater course is scheduled to officially open on Saturday, may 25th of memorial day weekend.
