Man charged with stealing wire from utilities

A man from Bailey, N.C. is facing charges in at least 14 cases of copper wire thefts. 

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office reports Charles Wood Jr., 35, was first arrested April 15 in connection with the theft of wire from utility poles in the Littleton area of Halifax County.

Investigations of other thefts in Halifax, Nash and Franklin counts have led to additional charges being filed against Wood: two counts of injury to utility wires, two counts of felony larceny and two counts of possession of stolen goods.

Halifax county says charges have been issued in 14 cases and additional charges are pending.

Wood is being held without bond in the Franklin County jail for probation violation.
