COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Law enforcement officers are running the Special Olympics torch from city to city across Georgia. The torch made its way to Columbus Monday morning.

75 runners, including officers, soldiers and other members of the community, ran from the Columbus Public Safety Building to Lake Oliver.

The group raised about $5,000 for local kids participating in the Special Olympics this weekend in Atlanta. Five kids from Columbus are participating in the games, competing in bowling and tennis.

Special Olympics Georgia serves nearly 25,000 athletes in over 180 programs in 120 counties.
