New meteorologist hired for Storm Team 8

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

Just four days after WFLA-TV announced the addition of meteorologist Bryan Bennett, the WFLA-TV Storm Team is expanding again.

Thursday, news director Don North announced that Julie Phillips will be joining the Storm Team, starting June 10th.

Phillips is currently the morning meteorologist at KTXS in Abilene, Texas, where she has worked for three years.

She is a graduate of the University of Miami, where she majored in meteorology and broadcast journalism.

Chief meteorologist Steve Jerve said, "I'm very excited to be adding Julie, and more recently, Bryan Bennett to Storm Team 8.  They are both well educated and experienced meteorologists with Florida forecasting experience.  They'll fit well with our tradition of excellence and team work at News Channel 8."

Phillips replaces Brooks Garner, who left WFLA-TV last month, for a job in Houston, Texas.

With a toss of a football, Charlie Crist boarded the bus in Orlando. “On to victory,” Crist announced, as he headed to his seat. It's a campaign tour that might have seemed improbable just a few years ago. But the former governor is on the campaign trail again, trying to win over voters to win back his old job in Tallahassee.

James Woolever was shocked to find a bad mark on his credit report. Especially since it was for an "outstanding balance" from a Verizon account opened in 1979. He knew that couldn't be right, because he was just 6 years old then.
