Local Tea Party protests Tampa IRS

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

It's one of the big scandals that's been plaguing President Obama's administration in recent weeks: news that the I-R-S gave special scrutiny to conservative groups, looking for tax- exempt status.

About 100 local Tea Party members turned out to protest in front of the Tampa IRS office. At noon protestors dressed in red, white and blue waved flags and carried signs. " I'm here today because I'm protesting me and my buddies being censored by the irs..unfairly and for anyone else..this is an American right. This has nothing to do about democrat or republican, it's right and wrong," said Charles Crites, protestor. They came from conservative groups in Palm Harbor to Brandon.

No one is accusing the local office of inappropriately auditing or targeting any conservatives.

Today's rally was part of a national Tea Party effort to protest in front of local IRS offices across the country.
