Opelika's Mitchell commits to Auburn

Posted: Updated:
OPELIKA, Ala. -

We are only about 90 days until the beginning of the high school football season. While some students use their summers for relaxation, many athletes continue working to prepare for their seasons and their future.

In that spirit, Opelika High School's Jakell Mitchell has began his summer by making one of the biggest decisions of his life.

After next season, he will stay in Lee County and become an Auburn Tiger.

The three star tight end had visited with plenty of SEC schools. While tight end is his primary position ,he was very versatile for Opelika last year.

He was one of the go to players for Brian Blackmon's squad.

He is Auburn's eighth committ so far this offseason. But, this is 'Big Cat weekend', that means they have a lot of high profile recruits in town.
