Two Northside Patriot teammates will remain teammates in college after signing national letters of intent on Thursday.
Northside baseball's Handley Boyd and Chase Slocumb will both play college baseball at Andrews College.
"It just felt like it was the best fit for me," Boyd, a first baseman, said. "When I talked to the coach, he was really nice, and first base is going to be open. I'm just going to go down there and work hard and earn a spot."
It was a similar decision-making process for Slocumb, who valued the size of the school as well.
"It's a small school, and I want to go and get used to everybody, get used to school and everything," Slocumb, a pitcher, said. "I liked the coaches and got a good opportunity to go down there and start."
Boyd and Slocumb helped lead the Patriots to a playoff berth in their senior season.
