Alabama rising sophomore guard Devonta Pollard has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit kidnapping of a six-year-old Mississippi girl.
On April 30, the girl was allegedly taken from school when asked for by name by Jesse Mae Pollard, Devonta's mother. The girl's father received a text message that said: "don't call the police I will call you later if you call the police u wont see her again."
The girl was found the next day, unharmed.
On Tuesday, Devonta was one of three people arrested and charged in connection with the case, according to Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News.
According to Mississippi TV station WTOK, six people have been arrested so far, with at least one more expected.
Pollard averaged 3.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game as a freshman at Alabama.
