The 2014 Georgia Women of Achievement Award nomination period will close June 30, 2013. While nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis, all qualifying nominations submitted by the deadline will be considered for the 2014 GWA Award. Candidates for the annual award must be native to or clearly identified with the state of Georgia, must be deceased for ten (10) or more years, and must have made enduring contributions in their field of endeavor which serve as an inspiration to future generations.
Up to three awards will be presented at the 2014 Georgia Women of Achievement Induction Ceremony and Luncheon, March 14 at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. We now honor over seventy seven outstanding women in our online museum. Every previous GWA Award Honoree was a woman who used her talents, her grit, and her determination to make a difference in our state. The theme is the same although the narratives vary from rich, poor, black, white, young, and old. Some stories are very familiar, but many are quieter tales that were at risk of being lost or forgotten over time.
Since 1992, the mission of Georgia Women of Achievement has been to recognize and honor Georgia women who made extraordinary contributions within their fields of endeavor, and who will inspire future generations to utilize their own talents. Biographical videos, courtesy of our partnership with Georgia Public Broadcasting, bring the lives of these extraordinary women to life.
