Three Americans Killed in Afghanistan

Posted: Updated:
KABUL, Afghanistan -

Three American trainers working in Afghanistan were killed Saturday when a man in an Afghan army uniform turned his weapon on them.

The provincial governor's office said the gunfire erupted during an argument between the Afghan soldier and his trainers. The soldier was also killed in the exchange and three other foreign trainers were wounded.

The international coalition says two American service members and one U.S. civilian died.

A second Afghan man was arrested after the shooting and an investigation into the incident is underway.

So far this year, there have been five insider attacks on foreign forces, with a total of eight troops and one U.S. contractor killed. However, the number of such attacks has eased compared with last year.
