Georgia's Commissioner of the Juvenile Justice Department suspended 19 investigators and the Head of Investigations.
The action comes in the wake of the U.S. Justice Department report that lists four of Georgia's detention centers among the worst in the country for sexual abuse of detainees.
Thursday Commissioner Avery Niles issued the suspensions after learning that investigations into 20 cases of alleged abuse from last year remain unsolved.
Internal investigations are supposed to be concluded within 45 days.
