Auburn introduces Golloway as baseball coach

Posted: Updated:
AUBURN, Ala. -

Auburn has often said it is a new day when it comes to coaching changes.

And if they thought the future was bright for Gus Malzahn and the football team, they are definitely thinking it's sunny for the baseball team.

Sunny Golloway was officially introduced as baseball coach Saturday morning.

Jay Jacobs presented him with his uniform.

Golloway has spent the last 21 years coaching at Oral Roberts and most recently Oklahoma.

He says he knew Auburn was right for him.

"Sometimes when  you sit down with people, you just hit it off and you know," said Golloway. "I'm one of those people, I know in gut I know when to make a pitching change, I know when to call a hit and run. I'll know when to lay down that bunt and I'll when to make a move."

Golloway is leaving an Oklahoma team that just got put out of the Super Regionals in the College World Series.

He led them there four times in his tenure. His Sooners also made a College World Series appearance in Omaha. He says the SEC competition is one thing that appealed to him about Auburn.
