It's a win for the citizens. A week ago, News 3 reported concern over the parking situation at the new Services Center. Originally, the parking deck of the $32 million facility had the best parking spaces reserved for city employees. The 146 reserved spots were on the first level and the second level closest to the entrance, meaning if you're a citizen going to the services center, you would have had to park on the far end of the second level or on the third level.
On Tuesday, Columbus Council ruled to change the layout to provide all first level parking spots to citizens, except for 10 spaces reserved for department heads. The third level spots will be reserved for employees.
With the new layout, there will be 232 public spaces and 134 employee spaces. There is no charge for parking in the deck.
