Durham man arrested on robbery charges

U.S. Marshals arrested a Durham man on robbery charges Wednesday at a home on N.C. 751.

Police said officers arrested Tracy Holloway Umstead, 23, of Cornell Street, on charges
of robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous
weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of
stolen property.

He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $500,000 bond, according to authorities.

Police said Umstead and Javon Nathaniel Winstead, 20, of Yancey Street, robbed a woman of her phone and money before attempting to rob a man at gunpoint as they walked on
Kent Street on May 3.

Winstead was arrested on May 17 and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of stolen goods, according to police.

Winstead is in Durham County Jail without bond.
