Two people arrested in Surf City double hit-and-run

Surf City Police arrested two people after they hit two people walking down the road.

The first victim, 48-year- Lonnie Hendrick was hit by a car around 9:00p.m. on Friday. Police say Hendrick was walking with a friend along North New River Drive when 24-year-old Michael Ramos hit him with his car and drove away.

Hendrick was transported to Onslow County Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. He was later transported to Wake Med Hospital in Cary.

On Saturday, Police located Ramos' car and arrested him. He is in the Onslow County Jail charged with felony hit and run and possession of heroin. Ramos is being held under a $7,000 bond.

Just nine hours later Police got a call to another person hit by a car. Police say 60-year-old George Olsen was hit by a car while on his morning walk along 9th street in Surf City. Police say Olsen was airlifted to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested 18-year-old Skyler Wellington of Kenansville in connection with the accident.  Wellington is charged with felony injury by vehicle and driving while impaired among other charges.

Wellington is out of jail on a $12,000 bond.
