The Chatham County Sheriff's Office arrested a second suspect wanted in connection with a weekend homicide in Bear Creek.

Deputies responded to a "shots fired" call in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 29 on Mays Chapel Church Road near bear Creek.  When deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered a man walking around with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The man was identified as Roosevelt Terell Dixon, 25, and was taken to UNC hospitals.

While searching for other possible victims, deputies found a second person with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle at the intersection of mays Chapel and James Goldston Road.

The deceased victim was identified as Roger Torran Smith Jr., of Moncure.

Authorities later learned from witnesses that the two victims had attended a party. Authorities also said that the shooting may have been drug or gang related.
