Flooding in Durham submerges homeowner's front yard

Posted: Updated:

People in Durham have been trying to dry out from all the flooding over the past couple of days.

"It's been a week of watching it rain and pumping all the water out, "said Chris Wagner.

In front of his home on Lorain Ave on Monday was a pool of water big enough to be a pond.

"It was amazing. Water was higher than I've ever seen it here and we've been here for 10 years," said Wagner.

There was no way for him to enter his home without treading through water.

His garden was submerged.

"I don't know that it's going to make it this year. It has taken a beating over the last two days," he said.

He installed a pump made for a small pool to the water from his front yard, to the storm drains in the street.

"It pumps about a gallon every five seconds and it's been running for two days," he explained.

He said in matter of minutes his entire street was under high water.

Unfortunately there's not much he can do to solve the problem, so now he just wants all the rain to go away.

"If it doesn't were just going to open a fishing camp in the front yard," he joked.
