CCGTV updates to high-def in new City Services Center

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

On July 9, 2013, the Columbus Consolidated Government Access Channel (CCGTV) will begin broadcasting from the new state-of-the-art high definition studios in the City Services Center.

Initially, the Columbus Council meetings and other community meetings will only be broadcast live to customers of WOW (formerly Knology). Customers of MediaCom and Charter will continue to receive all other programming as scheduled, but live coverage will be on a tape delayed basis for these two providers.

The City is currently in discussion with MediaCom and Charter Communications to establish a live connection for programming. The City will continue to provide tape delayed broadcasts of live programming to both MediaCom and Charter for 60 days. If an agreement is not reached within 60 days, taped delayed broadcasts will no longer be provided to the companies.

The City anticipates live programming for MediaCom customers will be available within 30-60 days. A tentative date for establishing the live connection to Charter Communications has not been determined.

The City will continue to work in good faith with both cable providers to initiate service from the new CCGTV studios in order to prevent any disruption in service to the citizens of our community.
