OPELIKA, Ala. -

An observant Opelika couple who noticed burglars fleeing a neighbor's home followed the thieves until authorities arrived.

On July 2, the couple, whose names were not released, were leaving their home on the 1400 block of Lee Road 155 East when they noticed suspicious activity at a neighbor's house, the Lee County Sheriff's Department says in a news release. The couple followed the thieves as they drove from the home.

The couple called 911 as the thieves began to throw a television and other objects from their moving vehicle. The four suspects inside the vehicle fled on foot after a Lee County Sheriff's Deputy was able to intercept the vehicle.

All are being held in the Lee County Detention Facility on a $6,000.00 bond each.
