WEST POINT LAKE, Ga. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 81 is teaming up with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to offer a personal watercraft and boating safety course at West Point Lake.
The two-night course is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 18 from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. EST at the West Point Project Management Office.
Attendees will learn about legal requirements, navigation rules, how to prevent accidents on the water, and new boating laws.
The course meets Georgia's law that requires completion of a safe boating course for those between the ages of 12 and 15 who wish to operate a personal watercraft or boat without adult supervision.
For Alabama residents, this course exempts them from taking the written exam when applying for an Alabama boating license.
Cost for the course is $15. Pre-registration is required by calling the West Point Project Management Office at (706) 645-2937.
